Annotate / Edit Documents and Sketchpads (Desktop)

This article is for general users of ClassDo e.g. students. If you are an organisation owner, admin, or member with admin permissions e.g. tutor, please refer to this article.

With the ability to upload documents, then read and annotate them together in our virtual rooms, you can co-create solutions in real time and ClassDo will automatically save all the latest versions permanently. Alternatively, create sketchpads to share what you are writing or drawing. Your sketchpad becomes a virtual whiteboard for everyone to view and work on.

Certain tools have keyboard shortcuts, allowing you to quickly switch between them by pressing the keys shown in brackets next to their name (e.g. to switch to the Move/Delete tool quickly, simply press M on your keyboard!).

If you are planning to annotate and edit documents or sketchpads, you should know how to control your view of the document/sketchpad.

In this article:

Open the Document / Sketchpad to Edit

You can edit documents in the virtual room during a live session or by accessing the content library outside of live sessions.

In the Virtual Room

Note that if the room is in Enable Sync mode and you do not have the permission to "Create a new tab, switch tab", when in the room, you will not be able to open content in the room.

Additionally, if you are not a presenter, you will not be able to edit documents by default unless you are the original uploader/creator of the content or you have been given permission to edit it.

Call Out the Document / Sketchpad from the Library

Click the '+' icon to create a new tab.
Click on the document that you would like to call out from the library.

If the file is a sketchpad or a single-page document, it will open up with the Editing Tools Menu displayed on the left automatically.

When the file is a multi-page document, the file will be displayed in pages.

Open Page View (in a Multiple-Page Document)

Then click the pencil icon to edit. This will open up the page in the editing view, with the Editing Tools Menu on the left. When you are done with editing this page, click 'X' on the upper right to exit the editing view and close this window.
