In What is ClassDo, and What is Creative Skilling, we mentioned the importance of covering all 3 of the following 3 pedagogical approaches, as described by Dr. Helen Bound’s research note:
Educator-led : Reproducing Knowledge (RK)
- Primary speaker in lessons: Educators
- Educators make sense of the content and present it to passive learners
- Standard problem: There is often an SOP
Mixed : Distributed Knowing (DK)
- Primary speaker in lessons: Educators and Learners
- Educators make some sense of the content, but so do learners
- Non-standard problems: There is no SOP, but solution(s) are known
Learner-led : Dynamically Generated Knowing (DGK)
- Primary speaker in lessons: Learners
- Learners actively do the work of learning
- Highly Complex problems: Students identify, name the problems and develop solutions
In this help page, we will be describing how you may make use of ClassDo’s tools to conduct educator-led lesson plans.
Utilising Slides (PDFs or PowerPoints)
If you have any slides or PowerPoint files, you may first upload them into the ClassDo library.
Learn more about how you can make use of the PDF presentation features. As a sneak peek: you may annotate on the slides to present additional insights onto academia articles or highlight certain points. If you are going through a case study or article, you can get learners to follow exactly what you’re seeing on the PDF.
Share a video
You may play a video by uploading the video or using YouTube. ClassDo allows you to sync the video across all your learners.
Class Management and Awards
For a personalised approach to cater to different learning styles of students, you can track students’ attention with the focus tracking feature, or award medals to students across lessons.
Educator-led pedagogy in lessons is important. However, including other elements of mixed pedagogy may be difficult. Learn how to do so in the next article.
